The speed of AI's development and societal implementation is more astounding than ever before. Amidst this rapid change, what kind of science communication should museums be developing? The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) has undertaken a variety of initiatives centered on the theme of AI, such as special exhibitions targeting those unfamiliar with AI, and the experimental introduction of AI guiding Science Communicators. Through these examples, museum planners¡¯ insights and challenges will be shared and future directions will be discussed, focusing on three key points:
1. How to create opportunities for citizens to engage with AI.
2. How to convey the potential of both the positive and negative aspects AI.
3. What conditions are required for an ongoing platform for dialogue where museums can consider, and fulfill their social and ethical role regarding AI?
